A coverstitch gives a professional finish to your garments.  It also cuts yoursewing time down as hems and necklines etc can be hemmed and finished in

one operation. If you have never used a coverstitch machine you will never miss it. But, once you have used one and experienced the advantages of owning

one you will never ‘make do’ without it!!!

The PF858 is an easy to use 2 needle, 3 thread cover stitch and 2 thread chain stitch. Equipped with differential feed to easily and with the minimum of fuss

finish off all the new types of fabrics available today.  This facility also means that adjustments can be made to the feed to eliminate ‘puckering’ seams so

often seen on badly manufactured garments. Also a convenient free arm for

coverstitching round sleeves, neckbands and small tubular areas.

Question.   What is a coverstitch?

Answer.      A coverstitch is the twin needle stitching you see on the hems of

                  most ready to wear knit garments.  On the top you see two parallel

                  rows of straight stitching and the underside looks like the loops of

                  an overlock stitch. These loops cover the turned down raw edge of

                  the fabric.

Question.   Why would I want a dedicated coverstitch machine and not a

                  combined overlocker and coverstitch machine?

Answer.     Combined overlocker and coverstitch machines must be 'changed'

                  over somehow to coverstitch. Because a coverstitch can be used

                  not just for hems but for other applications it can be time

                  consuming and a hassle to change back and forth between

                  overlocking and coverstitching.  A dedicated coverstitch machine is

                  always ready to use and without this fuss and so too will be your

                  overlocker.  Because a dedicated coverstitch machine is built and

                  engineered for just one task it produces more consistent and

                  pleasing coverstitches.  This is the reason why Industrial Sewing

                  Machines as used in Industry are only engineered to do one task!
